Your EAP Benefits

Guidance and confidential counseling for you and your family members.

Your EAP can help you with a variety of issues by providing a number of counseling sessions, community resources and online services, such as HelpNet, LawAccess, and monthly publications:

CONFIDENTIALITY

It is the policy of AWP to assure strict confidentiality in the handling of clients’ identity and personal information associated with the use of the EAP. AWP complies with all state and federal confidentiality laws with regard to alcohol and drug abuse and mental health records, including HIPAA. Since confidentiality is paramount to the implementation of a successful EAP program, AWP has established and maintains a confidential record keeping system consistent with these federal and state laws. AWP consistently strives to ensure that confidentiality is upheld in all cases and has maintained a spotless record during twenty-six (26) years of service.

ELIGIBILITY

Full benefits are available to the employee, spouse/partner, children/grandchildren age 25 or under, divorced spouse/partner, part-time employees, laid-off or terminated employees and their spouse/partner and children/grandchildren for up to six (6) months from lay-off/termination date.

FACE-TO-FACE COUNSELING

Employees and their family members will be offered counseling services in a convenient location which best meets their needs. AWP provides intake, counseling, guidance, assessment, referral, crisis intervention and follow-up services for employees, their spouses/partners and dependents who are experiencing problems which may affect work performance and personal well being. Problems to be addressed may include, but are not limited to:

Family crisis/planning Compulsive gambling
Domestic violence Gay/lesbian
Personal financial management Legal
Stress Marital
Emotional Psychological
Alcohol, tobacco, and drug abuse/dependency Adolescent
Family elder care Pre- and post retirement
Vocational and work-related Health
Literacy Disability-oriented

RESOURCE AND REFERRAL

Special efforts are made to use internal EAP resources and affiliates whenever possible. If outside care is required, AWP will refer the client to the treatment resources AWP considers appropriate. AWP counselors and affiliates will assist clients in accessing these resources, will follow-up to determine if services were received and whether they were appropriate and useful. AWP counselors and affiliates have access to a database of over 8000 community resources for this purpose in addition to internet searches.

AWP counselors and affiliate counselors will work with an employer’s medical plans, various insurance plans and local referral resources to recommend quality and affordable services to clients which are covered by the client’s insurance if available.

CRITICAL INCIDENT DEBRIEFINGS

CISD is defined as a work site intervention provided to a group of employees for the purpose of relieving the stress and trauma induced by a crisis impacting the work group. Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) will be provided to all facilities and locations on an unlimited and as-needed basis. Qualified counselors will arrive on site within twenty-four (24) hours of the traumatic event.

ELECTRONIC AND HARD COPY MATERIALS

AWP supplies a monthly newsletter for employees, Working Solutions, which can be accessed at our website, via out Newsletter link. Contact your HR Department for the user name and password. There is also a newsletter targeted to managers, Frontline Supervisor, at the same location. Employees will also receive brochures, cards, as well as information for LawAccess, HelpNet (see online services below) and WorkLife.

ONLINE SERVICES

LawAccess: One free legal consultation per incident, per client and one free consultation per incident, per client for financial advice are offered. The service includes a free online law library (with many common legal documents available such as bills-of-sale), free consultation by phone or in person for almost any legal issue including civil issues, consumer issues, personal/family law, business legal issues, real estate and IRS matters. Labor law and anything related to the workplace is the only exclusion.

HelpNet: Find a variety of articles, including 1500 tip sheets, resources, and interactive tools geared to assist you in satisfying your unmet needs. A host of information is categorized into six areas, including child care, elder care, education, emotional well-being, and health & wellness. Our national database has been customized for ease of use and reference in helping you maintain a healthy balance between work, family, and your own individual needs. Self assessment tools designed to identify areas of further introspection & development from relationship satisfaction, depression and conflict management to emotional intelligence, nutrition and goal setting are also available along with self help programs like smoking cessation & weight loss. These programs are valuable in assisting you in your drive toward self-actualization, allowing you to focus in on the key ingredients in your attainment of success!

WORKLIFE

To achieve that overall satisfaction of life takes more time and energy than most of us have readily available. That's why we developed Work Life services, which houses a wealth of services that can be customized and integrated for your life needs. From financial planning to consumer product and service information to finding the perfect sitter for your pets, travel packages to Aruba, or evaluating the latest diet program, Work Life specialists offer their expertise and are available to assist you in every step of the process. They are adept at assisting you in gathering and researching information, evaluating the pros and cons, and offering suggestions for thought in your area of need. In the end, specific referrals along with detailed profiles of the options will be provided so that you can make an informed decision. Regardless of how you choose to use the service, our consultants are available 24 hours a day to connect you to the right resources at the right time, thereby alleviating the stress and time commitment that oftentimes accompanies such quests.

SAFE RIDE

In the event an employee or family member is impaired by alcohol or drugs, Safe Ride enables them to call a cab and be reimbursed by AWP for the cab ride.
